FCP Hit Holbeach for Five

Zameer Hussain5 Sep - 10:08

Holbeach 0-5 FC Peterborough

A fiery midweek derby under the lights and what a night for FC Peterborough!
Local rivals Holbeach have been a tough nut to crack in recent seasons, but this time it was one way traffic from start to finish.

FCP came into the game unbeaten, with the chance to go top of the table, and after a nervy opening few minutes they absolutely switched on and never looked back.

Goal
1-0 – Holbeach’s shaky defence buckled early, giving away a reckless penalty. Up stepped Vito… cool as you like. Boom! 1-0. Their defender lucky to stay on the pitch.

Goal
2-0 – Deja vu! Holbeach couldn’t cope with our attack, another penalty, and Vito made no mistake.

Goal
3-0 – A contender for assist of the season! Vito with a stunning piece of control before pinging a gorgeous long ball over the top to David. The defence simply couldn’t live with his pace and he slotted it past the keeper. Pure class.

Goal
4-0 – FCP kept pouring forward. From a free kick, Micky whipped it in perfectly and Mo Janneh was there to smash it home. Relentless.

Half-time: 4-0 – FCP completely dominant, Holbeach hanging on. Oh, and the cheesy chips in the refreshment hut? Solid 10/10.

Second half saw a few changes, giving game time to fresh legs, and while the tempo dipped slightly, the control never faded.

Goal
5-0 – Yet another penalty (Holbeach really had a nightmare at the back). Vito stepped up for his hat trick, three pens, three goals. Ice cold.

Full-time: Holbeach 0–5 FC Peterborough
Goals: Vito x3, David, Mo
Green Army MOTM: Vito

It was men against boys. FCP were ruthless, dominant, and fully deserving of the win that puts them top of the league.
Usually a tricky tie, but tonight the lads made it look easy. The unbeaten run continues.

Green Army on the march!
