Knowle FC 1-1 FC Peterborough

A trip to knowle for the green army a wonderful and amazing day to go watch the first team play away from home on a Saturday afternoon with the Green Army

We started of playing with a. 4-4-2 with Derrick up top and the middle 4 playing as a diamond

Going into the game I believe we started of really well some good passes in to the final 3rd in the first 10/15 minutes giving the opposition some real threat and to their backline.

During the 20th minute we’ve conceded a corner and had the ball taken into their half and a lovely through on ball by Matty which puts David through on goal and puts it in the back of the net which gives us 1-0 lead no chance for the keeper.

we looked dangerous on the counter pretty much when we had the ball taken from our half into theirs which leaves it on a 4 on 3 situation causing them so much problems on the break.

We defended really well and they had the ball most of the half not once we put a foot wrong with Sultan doing a solid job at the back against a really good and fast winger, Toby Mario and lamine communicating well throughout the game and doing a good job at the back against a really good side who have a goal difference of +22.

Going into the second half with the 1-0 lead , once again defended well but nervy moments when conceding too many set pieces especially from corners.

We kept on losing the ball in midfield and kept on giving it back to them and were taking control of the game and winning free kicks had a few chances that would’ve been goals and Vitor striking 20 yards out and was not far off from scoring still 1-0

The opposition had a few chances that wouldve been goals but Alfie was there to deny them with some fantastic saves to be made a young keeper with so much potential.

Once again too many corner kicks being conceded which made the green army and the team in nervy moments with 10 minutes to spare we conceded from a set piece play and the game ends in 1-1 draw

Positives to take:

Going into the game with confidence and defended well with some really good battles and tackles in

Plenty of soft challenges that went against us which made us concede free kicks and “handballs” none of them caused our goalkeeper and our defenders a threat.

The defence was really solid on a Saturday afternoon with plenty of energy. The opposition team going into the game unbeaten with 8 wins, 1 draw and 0 losses and that 1 draw came from FCP which is a really positive take from us as they were expecting a win against us and a point seperates it.

Moreover, credit goes to the management team for their hard work on and off the pitch getting players prepared on match day and to see some fantastic football seen by the Green Army and hopefully the great journey continues.

The Green Army is always bouncing at the MAPS and especially on away days so it is good to see some new faces, come along and join the journey see everyone in the next game at the Millfield Autoparts Stadium against Biggleswade FC in the FA Vase will be a cracker to watch.
