Reserves and Development Round Up

It was a weekend of character and determination for FC Peterborough’s Reserves and Development sides.
The Reserves came from behind to earn a 4–1 victory over Eye Rangers, the first win of the season for new manager Lloyd, while the Devs battled hard against ICA Reerves

Reserves fight back for first win under Lloyd

Eye Rangers 1–4 FCP Reserves

The Reserves produced an excellent response after falling behind in difficult, windy conditions, coming back to control the game and secure a convincing 4–1 win.

For new manager Lloyd, it was the team’s first victory of the season. He was particularly pleased with the character the players showed after going 1–0 down, and with the quality of their football, especially in the first half.

The midfield three helped FCP take control, while the team created enough chances to have scored more. Mizzy struck both the post and the bar, Sebastian went close with a header from Zade’s corner, and the Eye Rangers goalkeeper made several good saves.

There were changes across the back four, with Logan making his first appearance for the Reserves, Leo playing out of position, Hamza filling in at right-back and Khalil continuing to grow into his role at centre-back. Adil also added a goal to his recent strong performances.

FCP’s goals came from Younes Rihane, Brandon Mujuru (two) and Adil Aziz.

Lloyd praised the progress of the young squad and the strength available from the bench, while making clear that the team’s standards remain high. The focus now turns to building on this result and carrying the momentum into the next match.

Devs battle to the final whistle

FCP Devs 1–3 ICA Res

The Devs gave everything against a strong ICA Res side. Two counter-attacking goals before half-time left FCP with a difficult challenge, but the players kept battling after the break and continued to look for a way back into the game.

A poor goal conceded made it 3–0, but the Devs responded once again. Owen finished well to give the home side a goal and set up an entertaining final spell, although a comeback was not to be.

The result was disappointing, but the performance had plenty to admire. The Devs showed heart, passion and desire throughout, and can take encouragement from the way they kept going until the final whistle.
